Savannah Breeder Good Bad Know the Difference

Savannah Breeder Good Bad

When choosing a Savannah Kitten much of your decision should come from how you interact with the breeder.
Can you call the breeder and talk to them?
Can you reach them when you need answers?
Visits to their catteries are usually not necessary and many breeders don’t allow it. Not because they don’t want you there, they simply run too big of a risk allowing you to come. Many diseases can be passed when your cattery is open to visitors. They have your savannah kittens health in mind. Many vets appreciate a closed cattery.
What kind of a warranty do they offer?
Do they send you picture updates?
Look closely at the pictures, do the coats look healthy?
Do they eyes look clean and bright?
How does the kitten play in the pictures or videos?
Don’t be surprised if the breeder requests a deposit to hold the kitten, that’s normal as they get many inquiries and someone else might be ready to pick the kitten right out from under you.  As the old saying goes “you snooze-you lose”

When it comes time to pick your kitten up some breeders have a special meeting room. Some will meet you at a neutral location. That’s all fine and good too. It’s very normal.

Above all, make sure the breeder will be there to help you AFTER you get the kitten home.  A great way to know is to phone the breeder and act like you bought a kitten somewhere else and ask for help. It won’t take long to know if they will be helpful. I personally answer anyone’s questions about any Savannah Cats if I can.
