Buying Savannah Kittens
A quick note about buying Savannah Kittens. Since the breed has become popular many people have ran out and purchased a male and a female thinking they are going to jump in and make a quick dollar. You will find 2 types of breeders.
The breeder that has invested their life into the breed and the betterment of the Breed
The Savannah Breeder has paid close attention to their bloodlines. Most have purchased their breeders for specific reasons such as health and beauty.
- They are strict about their diets making sure the cats and kittens are as healthy as possible.
- Good breeders make sure all vet work has been done. They have the backing of a real vet in the event you have any questions.
- They do NOT small cage breed NOR do they toss several cats together as a free for all!
- Each of our savannah cats have their own enclosure with their own food and water, their own cat trees, their own toys and enrichment activities.
- They have not purchased their breeding cats based on price and you can usually tell by the cost of their kittens as they may be higher. Not the highest, but higher.
- They are there to help you long after the sale. Always answering questions and being there for you day or night and long after the sale.
The other Breeder
- They purchased as cheap as they could because they are going to make money not caring what they are selling.
- You will see kittens for sale by them constantly.
- You will see them selling their kittens cheaper than others, usually because they over breed and have to unload them.
- They feed their kittens grocery store garbage food.
- They throw the male in with the female and pump out kittens. Savannah cats are housed with many cats in 1 enclosure claiming it’s better for the cats so they can play. However, I have found this only leads to fighting for dominance, especially when 1 is in heat.
- Usually the kittens are not healthy and they have paid no attention to getting good solid clean bloodlines.
- You will find these kittens priced cheaper than a reputable breeder because they know their kittens aren’t up to perfection. WATCH OUT for those breeders.
- The funniest part they do is consider EVERY kitten a breeding kitten if you want to pay their price. A good breeder knows, not every kitten should be added to a breeding program.
In closing on buying Savannah Kittens:
[ezcol_1half]When buying your savannah kittens from me, know I never change prices of my kittens to compete with other breeders. If you’re planning on buying cheap savannah kitten, then have at it. No point in asking me to drop mine to fit theirs. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Pick your kitten based on the kitten and the reputation of the breeder. NOT the price. I get calls all the time from people who have bought those cheap kittens that are sick or unhealthy or die within months. Anyone who has bred savannah cats knows if your doing it right your not making much money. Sure we all make money or we wouldn’t do it, but trust me there is no boat load of money for the responsible breeder. We do it for the love of the breed, not the money.[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end]
